Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Had delicious lunch today. Chicken schnitzel was yummy and comparatively bigger size.fresh greens, tender chicken and tasty mushroom gravy. Chicken burger was also tasty. Quite good filling and chips are crispy.Service and atmosphere was good. one of the best bar food in dunedin."
"We had an amazing lunch. Chicken Schnitzel and a Ham Steak. Perfectly cooked and presented, prompt delivery and sooooo big. Amazing value for money. Highly recommend."
"We held a function here for around 50 people...catering was great (fresh and well plated) ...staff were helpful and friendly. Also had a cheese roll earlier in the day it was great a must try!"
"Found this place by chance while looking for a dinner venue that didn’t have a long wait. They have parking out at the back for guests and also has a gaming zone at the back of the restaurant. Food was ok and service was not as quick as they only had 2 associates on the floor serving the dining area (which is fair given the number of customers at that point in time - around 6.30pm). The cod dish was fresh and nicely fried, fries could have been a little crispier. The roast lamb was nice and soft, with crisp baby potatoes and steamed vegetables at the side which was fresh as well. You usually have rings for calamari so this was a little odd shaped. If you need a quick decent meal without long queues, here’s a place for you to go. The price to value ratio is 1, so you get what you pay for."
"Is a good place for a drink, have a meal, and socialize with others. Food is great"
"Another one of the top grade food in South Dunedin. This is a restaurant cum bar which serves traditional pub foods. We all like the food we had here during boxing day. They were nicely done and delicious, especially the porky ones. I'm a bit disappointed that the blue cod was not so fresh. But the prawns were springy and fresh. Service and serving of food was fast, and the place had a quiet ambience, which is good for catching up with family and friends."
"A lovely local pub meal. The pan fried blue cod was outstanding and hubby's snitzel definitely hit the spot. A calm atmosphere. Would highly recommend."
"SHOUT OUT to the staff! They are very welcoming. I like to come here to have a pint and a game of pool - Monday's are good because there's no quiz or texas hold 'em which are rather busy nights @ the R&T. The restaurant side is popular so I'd usually make a booking but we have also randomly popped in for a meal and been seated quickly. We have come here for family celebrations on a number of occasions because there are larger than average spaces, including the function room available."
